didnt talk directly to the man but when i was stationed in Oklahoma, i was witness to his fake piousness and ridiculously over-acted "humble" demeanor...

I was a fan. I liked the heartfelt heartbreak songs. When he got all teary eyed on stage because he cheated on his high school sweetheart wife he lost me. I hate fake (I didn't actually see that). He (probably)diddled and later married his current wife, which I thought was a good move. He can sing, she can sing. I'm sure they are happy. Marrying your high school sweety doesn't always work out. I haven't seen any of his stuff in years. Heck, Alabama had what, five retirements? I think they may have killed them off with big sticks.
Hey, I remember when McCartney played here (that was a while back). We were posed with the decision to make MLK a holiday. As usual, there was some pushback. McCartney brought it up; He got some applause, and said, 'whatever that classic administrative term is'. He got some boo's too.
But, if you can watch the Possums wake and not get teary eyed good for you. There is some good baptist acting on stage. Points for the band.
