Talent is now to be judged by the color of one's skin ? ...

euphemistically called "social equity" but known by many names such
as, discrimination, favoritism, affirmative action - but really it's just a
special treatment program for those who couldn't have achieved the
position they were seeking without that special wink and a nod.
We saw it in college admissions and elsewhere where the object was
to allow an education that without help would have been denied.
But we've moved on from that and now it's where orchestra musicians
are to be chosen not by how well they play their particular instrument,
but by other criteria including their race, whether or not they live in
the same town as the orchestra, skin color and gender. Presumably
they will still have to actually play for their audition - one hopes anyway.
Will this ":social equity" spread into other professions ? Will surgeons
have no need to be adept with a scalpel ? Will a lawyer not have to be
familiar with things a lawyer should be familiar with ?
Irish and Whites need not apply may become the norm.

Used to be if you were white then it was assumed you had talent. Are you saying this is no longer true?
