    Doing what it does best

This is ridiculous. Had he already killed everyone? What are these guys thinking?

    Not Monday morning quarterbacking.

That's not the story that's going around-

The suspect, later identified as Salvador Ramos, was killed by a Border Patrol agent who rushed into the school without waiting for backup, according to a law enforcement official.
If I should die before I wake...great,a little more sleep.

so how many were outside while he rushed in?

reports are a bit mixed on what the police did as they arrived

In the mass shooting, time is on the side of the shooter and against those shot, if any are to be saved.

Cops are supposed to act quickly in that case, not plan Operation Overlord 2 to strategically storm the school. Yeah it's not ideal from the police perspective but neither is it from the victims's.

It appears now that they waited an hour for the entry team before they rushed in.

And the shooter had no trouble gaining entry at the get-go.

            So FUBAR from all directions.

Over thinking. Folks who just love to hold meetings and use that college degree.
You'd think Texas would be more, get the job done, but they have maybe been whipped into submission dealing with the border and are incapable of making a move.

Don't think anyone will argue that there is a gun shortage in rural Texas. But there was a courage shortage. The incident commander froze up despite his ears ringing with demands that his people do the right thing. Kind of feel for that guy because he's gonna take that day to his grave.

But no I don't think the blame goes anywhere than on that guy, the local cop who was in charge and told his guys to hunker down and wait for reinforcement. Don't let him off the hook for that. He hasn't earned your excuses on his behalf. It was his call and he made it.

The local incident commander will likely retire in short order, move to a location where he is not as well known, and start collecting a very comfortable pension.
