She shot the killer with her "lawfully carried gun" ...

A Woman attending a celebration shot and killed a Man who opened fire
on the group with an AR.
The Police said she would not be charged and that she was lawfully carrying.
Should we then assume that had she been carrying a gun unlawfully She
Would be charged, maybe with murder as the would-be killer expired ?
Or would they charge her with unlawful carry and confiscate her weapon ?
Would they really charge a Heroine who saved lives ?
If so, would that mean you can only defend yourself or others with political
    permission ?

Well whatever the process to legally carry, she followed it. And somewhere along the way she developed proficiency. And then when the emergency came, she had a clear head and responded correctly.

All in all a good story.

So why wonder about illegal carrying? I'd say the people carrying illegally are unlikely to act as she did. They'd probably just hide under the table.

Maybe she can go to Texas and tell the cops there how she did it.

Finally, a story with a happy ending. Good question about how someone would act. A felon carrying would sadly probably not act. Someone who would carry whether the law says he can probably would act and hang the outcome. He would be even more heroic. That lady is in for a lot of attention shortly.

As there's no concealed carry allowed in California (except for Pelosi)
then I guess no one would act to prevent a slaughter because the
penalty for doing so would be severe - charged with murder.
Law could be viewed as an "Anti Good Samaritan Law"

California isn't a "shall issue" state but that hardly means CCW licenses cannot be had there.

Maryland is the same, you will get one if you jump thru the 12,334 hoops and then know someone in the judiciary or high up in the State Police,

the average joe does not really stand a chance of getting one,

VA used to not be shall issue, you had to demonstrate a reason (but no classes or experience needed)

I got my first w/o issues, but was denied on the renewal,
had to go to court and stand infront of a Judge to explain why I needed it,

impressed him enough that I was renewed, and never questioned or denied again,
              we are shall issue now,
