    No more Good Samaritans ...

No one helps anymore. they'll stand around recording your getting
the crap beaten out of you on their smart phones, but that's it,
there's no help coming, you're on your own.
The attached shows a 12 year old robbing a gas station. Behind him
is a grown man who just walks away. How difficult would it have been
to disarm the kid who had his back to the guy ?
There was the girl on the train asking for help and being ignored while
a thug was beating on her.
Where did all the Galahads go ?

Everyone is a journalist. They are neutral and neutered. I've seen great vids (from some kind of standpoint) of people being chased by bears who had the time to turn the camera(whoops, phone) around and record it.

Overall people want to help. They've had the wind knocked out of their sails by the judges.

So many times in the past people have jumped in to help only to get sued or arrested later.

It's gotten to the point where you can't even help someone injured, bleeding, laying out in the middle of the road due to an auto accident. The aftermath of doing often results in lawsuits stating the patient was handled incorrectly, you did more harm than good, or you should have called the authorities.

Then there's places like Walmart. How many times have we read about an employee stopping someone trying to leave the store w/o paying for something only to be fired for doing so? Walmart (and most others) are afraid of the liability of lawsuits (due to the judges) so they had rather the thief just take the goods.

School shootings? If we get the teachers/principals to start arming themselves will they use their guns against an intruder who means harm or will they be afraid of being sued over it?

THIS is the kind of BS that needs to end.

Police have no legal obligation to protect the citizens, why should a private person risk their lives for a gas station...lol?

You want teachers armed that can't be trusted with all that critical race curriculum?

          Better get your argument straight.

I'm not big on arming Teachers. He or she will have a handgun while the
killer will have an AR. Between the two will be the kids who'll be jumping
around. The Teacher will be out gunned and won't be able to get off a shot
lest he/she hits a kid. Can't expect a Teacher to be cool calm and collected.
Better is an armed guard. One entrance only, windows secured etc.

Guns on the classrooms? With the Special Ed kids? The liability issues alone will doom that. If ideas like these are supposed to stave off increased gun regs, then I guess we're gonna get more gun regs.

As mentioned in a different thread recently, schools in my area have cops and police cruisers present all day. The presence of armed police is enough usually to persuade would-be intruders to chicken out. Placing signs at schools stating that "some" school personnel are armed might discourage some even if no one had a gun. The intruder wouldn't know any better.

I think the most a teacher or other personnel would have is something like a Glock. They wouldn't want to flash a long gun around in front of the children.

My daughter carries a SS 38 snub in her purse and one in her car. She is allowed to have a concealed weapon in her work place and is permitted. I told her though to keep it a secret. She doesn't need to become the office cop but she is armed if SHTF.

Perhaps schools in the future should hire principals and VP's who are vet's or retired police who aren't afraid of guns.

The question was: "if someone in a school (teacher or principal) had the guts, the mentality, the correct judgement, whatever, to use a gun against someone attacking them, would they blow them away as needed or would they be afraid of how the judges might rule for or against them"?

Armed teachers. About as dumb as anything else floated to deal with idiots killing kids. A school building with one entrance/exit covered by actual trained personnel who are capable and able rather than merely a warm body in a uniform drawing a salary w/ metal detectors, etc. just like at the local court houses will nip this business of whoever wherever that wants to prey on children/teachers. Of course it is not as glamorous as drama queens/kings screaming for the 30 minute news cycle and it doesn't work real well for Facebook/youtube "journalists." So what. Their interest are irrelevant. Simple common sense step like just described would 100 % work far and away better than expecting teachers to play modern day Dale Rogers. JMHO. Sincerely. bruce.

Then let those teachers find another occupation.

An adult who is in charge of someone else's children is obliged to protect those children as vigorously and effectively as the children's parents would.
