I liked America the way it was ...

like when I bought my radial arm saw at Sears Roebuck, or
when my wife and I would eat at Howard Johnsons when we
drove across country via route 66. Those places are gone now
together with Woolworths, Monty Wards, W.S. Grants.
My local Denneys closed a few years ago, and K Mart is on life
support. There's a Target and a Home Depot near me, but
Walmart is an hour away although it's a nice scenic drive.
But at least they're stores I can go in to buy what I need
instead of ordering from Amazon - something I'll never do.
I still have the Sears saw I bought in 1970 and my 22 single
shot rifle. In my opinion, change is not always for the better.

The essence of MAGA is nostalgia for a romanticized past.

    So, not surprised.

Most everyone sees the past through somewhat rose-colored glasses. I tend to agree with dogtag, but I also know that some look back longingly at other times, e.g. the years when the Klintons reigned in Arkansas then the Whitehouse. I lived in Arkansas while under Klinton rule, and was saddened that they gained yet more power in '92. I even know of some who long for the Jimmy Carter times again, although I cannot imagine why.

A lot of good music was made in the Jimmy Carter era.

Oh... no... I have to agree with you there. There was also a lot of bad, bad music then, too! LOL!

The good music from the Jimmy Carter era was my bank paying 16.5% interest on CD's.
