I figure there's some kind of intelligence gene that gets passed on to
the child, but that assumes there's an intelligence gene that at least
one parent has that enables it to be passed on. If it's not there, then
what if that child in turn has a child ? How stupid can a newborn get
from successive generations before it's brain is the size of a Walnut ?
This article shows what we already know - that our youngsters are
incapable of a cogent thought. If they know nothing of History it's
probably true that they nothing of anything else. Questions posed by
various Reporters proves this to be true. They know nothing of
importance, but they no doubt know everything about drugs.
These people will no doubt enter government service as bureaucrats
as it will be the only occupation open to them because government
does not count intelligence as a prerequisite for employment.
If you think this Administration is incompetent, just wait until this
new lot takes over.

Well there was this thing for awhile there where super rich were having lots of kids. Mostly because it was trendy.

But yeah in the 3rd world (and some US states) it's exactly as you say. And people say educating women is the #1 sure-fire thing to improve living standards and reduce birth rates and such.

I think that there are many different factors at play. My sense is that genetics do play a part and that intelligent parents tend to have intelligent kids - but, and its a big but, it may not be that the kids are intelligent but rather that the parents are inclined to promote education and provide the kids with a positive and supportive learning environment at home. That is to say, that kids with average intelligence in a positive environment may do far better at school and in society than a very intelligent kid who is discouraged from studying or even thinking. Kids who hang out with kids who are taught at home to hate school and to hold gang members in high regard are not likely to have been taught to think.

I think that you're correct that changing the culture of some people (I would be afraid to state which ones need changing) is key to changing their behavior. Unfortunately this is a near - impossible task and one that would likely take two generations to achieve. It reminds me of the old joke - "Q: How many people does it take to change a light bulb?" "A: One person, but the light bulb has to want to change". I don't think that you can force cultural change. People have to be willing to change and to do so must have the opportunity, the desire and the ability to see the advantages of changing.

What kind of diabolical "mission" is it to want EVERY child to have a world class education?

A little research would reveal that of all the gang-related shootings in Chicago, none of the shooters have PhDs in math, science or engineering.
