Manchin is a blue senator in the reddest state in the country. This vote will make it very hard for him to win again. Last time he won by three points, solid but certainly no landslide. He's 74 years old and I suspect He's already decided he won't run for re election so it's a little less problematic for him to go along with this. It's no sure thing it's going to pass anyway, several senators are out with health issues, and, as usual, Sen. Sinema is playing it very close to the vest.
