Well that's a crock as we know. Wrongly convicted people are vindicated on a somewhat regular basis.

Taking 'gubmint property: Bill and Hillary stole furniture and art work out of the white house and got off with giving it back. Remember Sandy Berger stuffing classified documents into his pants? I don't recall any consequences for him. If Hunter Biden's hind end is really in a sling we haven't seen it yet and the national security folks, current and former put out the lie that his 'puter was "Russian Disinformation" when any one with active neurons should have known that was a crock but it got old Joe elected. Hunter has been committing crimes on video for years and no indictments on him. Even more buried are reports that Biden's daughter's diary which she forgot in rehab contains allegations of what she seemed to believe, was possible sexually inappropriate conduct with her dad.

As far as the actual documents go, Presidents and other Government officials have been squirreling away documents for ever, usually because they want them for their memoirs. They have been told that every document they generate while in office, down to every "post it" note is the property of the government and I'll wager you'd have to look long and hard to find any of them who didn't leave with something.

It strongly appears that the FBI has been politically compromised at least since Comey was running it and probably before.

We're now seven years into the witch hunt.

Bye the bye, it is now confirmed the raid actually happened.

There are actually reports that he was previously asked to return some documents.

        More on the raid!

Republicans to FBI - tell us what you know:

Republicans to FBI - tell us what you know: Top GOP Rep. on House Intelligence Committee demands 'immediate briefing' from FBI director Chris Wray on the 'justification' used for the Mar-a-Lago raid
Ohio Republican Mike Turner asked Wray for the justification he used for raid

Turner said he is 'unaware of any actual or alleged national security threat
He called the search 'unprecedented' and demanded a briefing to Congress
Several Republican leaders tore into the decision to raid Mar-a-Lago

The GOP have called for the FBI to be investigated and have vowed revenge if they retake the House in November

Art, is Trump above the law or not?

If he is, then any search warrant is automatically treated as proof of DOJ politicization (pretty much the reaction here).

If he's not, then law enforcement gets to do their job, and be prepared to answer for the job they do.

          Which is the right way?

And am I the only one who sees the sad cynicism of Trump, a skeevy promoter on his best day, seeking refuge from the law by turning himself into a.... politician?

Have to wait to see what the probable cause for the warrant the FBI had!

The DOJ needs to understand that in this case, a big slice of the public wants to look over their shoulder.

Their first instinct is probably to conceal, motivated by the usual mix of arrogance and not wanting public disclosures to mess up their case.

But that's the wrong instinct here. They have to reveal enough to keep the public, if not on their side, at least in assent to the idea that there's a job to be done here.

Evidently someone from Nat'l Archives was sitting on a park bench and a little bird flew by and said 'won't someone do something about this damned priest?'.
