These are dangerous times. Hopefully, if Putin orders a nuclear strike, his subordinates will refuse.

If the Ukraine is supplied with nukes I hope it will be like a "lend lease" or use them up. I wouldn't want to see the Ukraine ending up with a surplus supply of nukes if/when this war is over or for Russia to end up with them.

As far as Putin goes he may sense "nuke and be nuked".

Regardless of how good Russia's missile defense system works I doubt they could overcome several hundred nukes and non-nuke missile being fired at the Kremlin at once. Russia is at a weakened point militarily wise, it would be a big expense for nuke countries to do this but it would put an end this BS. Taking out the Kremlin would be like taking out DC here. China would become quiet too I suppose.

You may remember when Nixon sent in B52s in Viet Nam. The North Viet Namese air defense system was the standard USSR system and designed to shoot down B52s. And the density in North Viet Nam was far greater than the USSR could have in their own country.

The B52s went through that system like chit through a goose.

We did it then, we can do it again with more modern technology.

Can't think of anything that would stop the war quicker than to cut off the head of the snake, the Kremlin.

Missiles could be fired from all Nato nations that participated. No matter how many they could shoot down, I don't see how they could cope with several hundred at once and they wouldn't be expecting it.

A modern day B52 scenario with no pilots. They and China will be a threat forever till something drastic is done. I would call this drastic.

And yes, you don't want to walk behind a goose.

There were 15 B-52s shot down over North Vietnam. Several others were severely damaged including one that skidded off the runway and ran over land mines. The plane was demolished and all but one of the crew died. It was ruled a accident.

And the Soviets were desperate to get hold of the Electronic Warfare Officers from those B52s. "War protestors" in the US were encouraged to search through newspaper morgues, looking for "Hometown news releases" of local boys graduating from certain schools. The articles they found were sent to the Russian embassy.

B52 crews went in "sterile" -- nothing to identify the individuals' specialties but a Geneva Convention Card. Nevertheless, while B52 crewmen were released, there were no EWOs among them. The Soviets got them, interrogated them and then liquidated them.
