    Niclolas Cruz gets life

The parents are disappointed. But which is worse, thirty yrs. waiting for the execution or a life behind bars. I vote for whichever is worse. I'd say just shoot him but that's not the way the death penalty works.
His defender stated that his mother drank while pregnant and he wound up brain damaged. She asked, "do we kill mentally disabled, brain damaged people"
Me: Why not. Who needs them. You kill rabid racoons and foxes. Why keep a totally worthless zero alive for another fifty yrs? I know- just crazy talk. Sometimes I'm not very accommodating.
If I should die before I wake...great,a little more sleep.

How did parents raise brain damaged kids prior to the 70's?

Before all the "free" government programs family took care of family.

Someone like this would have been watched just like you watch over a toddler and you certainly would not have let them have access to a gun.

But yeah, I agree with you. Why keep someone like this alive and in a prison. That's not going to change or help anything. He killed 17 and wounded 17. All a judge and jury needed to do was prove he was guilty. The victims and their families should have a voice/determine what his punishment would be.

The mother should be jailed for her neglect of drinking and not keeping a check on a known problem with her son.

If your child or grandchild had been murdered how would you feel?

One part of me says that he should be turned over to the parents so that they can mete out appropriate justice but logically I know that there would be a never-ending fight over whether to hang him, shoot him or bury him alive.

I do understand that due to all of the legal processes involved, it is actually cheaper to keep someone in prison for life than it is to execute him, although it may not be as satisfying for the families of the victims

THAT has become one of the biggest issues.

It should never take more than $0.50 to execute someone.

If it bothers executioners to kill someone in times past at least one rifle was loaded with blanks so if shot by a firing squad no one knew for sure if they contributed to the killing or not. Some could use self-satisfaction that their gun had blanks.

Judges that turn criminals loose should be held as accountable as the murderer.

IIRC in Russia executions are carried out by shooting the perp in the back of the head with a pistol. The ChiComs have a similar system. Death is virtually instantaneous, though not "pretty." We just seem to be obsessed with turning executions into some medical procedure which probably isn't any more painless than a bullet to the back of the head or a properly executed hanging.

Hopefully, while in prison, Cruz will be murdered by another prisoner who has nothing to lose by doing so! That happened to the 'animal' who killed and ate his victims!

My understanding is it has happened a lot where fellow prisoners have raped women, tortured people or animals, and killed children.

Like you say, they have nothing to lose and may feel they are doing some good by doing so.

Otherwise expect to hear about parole in a few years for Cruz even though there is not suppose to be any chance of that.

17 murders + at least 17 attempted murders + all the smaller crimes like taking a loaded weapon into a school, discharging a weapon in a school, disrupting a school, resisting arrest and so forth, and this is the only punishment he gets? No wonder there is so much crime.

His time in prison won't be a whole lot worse than our time in the public school system except he will at least get some a/c cooling and TV time.
