Do not ever under estimate Putin. Think about it. You have a bunch of non combat experienced Generals and a overload of crooked officers in your military. How do you fix that problem? Go to war and let your opponent kill them off and let the creme rise to the top.

My take is that Putin will prevail in Ukraine and wind up with the most tested and experienced military in the world.

In the meanwhile, the economy of the US is rotting away as did the military in Russia.

The COVID mandates in China have generated historic opposition. The only fix Xi has is to invade Okinawa. A move that will paralyze the US.

Bottom line, the s?t is going to hit th fan and having 10,000 rounds of 5.56 ain't going to help you.

I don't think Putin can win. It's one thing to kill off the incompetent officers, it's another thing to find competent men to replace them.

And why would Xi invade Okinawa? That's part of Japan!

I think Putin's only real chance of winning is with nukes but knows "nuke and be nuked". The rest of the world allies would have to respond if that happened.

Xi ? China would take over the world if it could and has the population to do so. They are trying to take Taiwan and small Jap owned islands now.

I have said before, nuclear "weapons" are not weapons at all -- that is, they have no war-winning or battle-winning capability. Anyone who uses nuclear weapons guarantees his own destruction -- and the rest of the world along with it.

China is trying to take islands they have long claimed (Taiwan being one of them.) They are not trying to take Japan.

Long claiming doesn't mean they belong to China nor gives them the right to invade.

Okinawa is an island. It isn't Japan, but belongs to Japan. There are other territories as well that China is trying to take from Japan.

No question the Chinese are being pushy these days -- they know Trump is out of office.

But the Chinese have not claimed Okinawa.

                Have they actually claimed Okinawa?

They've been claiming it for years.

Per FOX news: The pentagon is concerned because China intends to increase their nuclear stockpile by 3X by 2035. That's not far from now. When that time comes, if not before, they can claim and invade any place they like and dare anyone to oppose them.

Only if they're willing to have their bluff called. And the Chinese are notoriously conservative risk-takers.

The United States -- if we have the sense to elect a good President.

I attended a lecture today by a retired Canadian general. He feels that the Ukrainian army is now the best combat-tested army in the world and described the Russian army as having been "chopped up" by the Ukrainians. He pointed out that the best part of the regular Russian army is now gone and that although the Russians are far better equipped than the Ukrainians, the Ukrainians are far better soldiers and better motivated than unwilling Russian conscripts. He feels that ultimately, the Ukrainians will prevail. He also feels that US President Biden has done an excellent job of providing weapons to Ukraine without pushing Putin to use nukes

This somewhat relates to the Soviets defending Stalingrad during WW2 using mostly sniper fire. As far as the U.S. goes supplying the Ukraine, don't forget the UK are in it as much as us. Other countries are helping too such as Poland taking in the bulk of their refugees.
