Why The Public Was Notified About The Confidential Files

When a smoke screen distraction is as bad as your record.

No FBI search of course so it could have all been kept secret and is no doubt much worse than published.

i have read nothing about the contents of these documents, and I wonder how far down does authority to classify information go.

From what all I've heard is a president (like Trump) can de-classify items. A VP can not and these documents in biden's homes date back to when he was a VP.

What concerns me is the FBI has the authority to read these documents when they are found and who in hell trust them?

When I was a O-3 Lieutenant and was in charge of the maintenance of the ejection and survival systems of 14 F4-J Phantom II supersonic fighters aboard an aircraft carrier I was responsible for a lot of manuals and maintenance information that were classified. When we got back and departed the carrier we had to package the literature in steel cruise boxes that were marked as classified, padlocked, and banded. Of the 20 or so classified boxes, 3 were labeled Beefeaters, Walker Johnny, and Daniels Black.

It did not need a president to classify or declassify the items, a junior officer could do it.
