Oh for those good old days of Al Capone and his Gangsters ...

Capone, Dillinger, Segal. These man and their gangs used to
kill each other but they never hit old Ladies on the head in order
to steal her welfare check. They didn't pilfer goods from the
shelves of Target or Walmart or shoot owners of liquor stores
for the modest amount found in the cash drawer. People going
about their everyday business had no fear of being kidnapped or
mugged in broad daylight. Now they do in these Democrat run
Cities. They fear for their lives when they leave home, and
even at home their afraid because in those same Cities they're
arrested if they dare defend themselves.
Oh for the relative tranquility of the 20's. Roaring they were
but not from the gunfire of a maniac shooting children.
Capone's biggest crime ? Tax evasion. Big effing deal. He cheated
government out of money they stole in the first place.

Mostly these gangster's only killed other gangsters (their competition). They provided a service and a wanted product (alcohol).

Capone told FDR that his gang would guard the docks when the ships were being loaded with WW2 munitions going to Europe. He told the prez: "I'm a business man but I, like you, love America too".

After the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor no one knew what was coming next. FDR had to go to the capitol to address congress about the attack and entering the war. He used Capone's 1928 "bullet proof" Cadillac that had been impounded while Capone was in jail. He said "I hope Mr. Capone doesn't mind us using his car".

The "elected" officials we have today have done more crimes than all these gangsters combined.

When FDR's momma was a little girl she lived in Hong Kong while her daddy tended to the family business. Opium.
FDR and Al might have shared a few stories.

Having grown up near Hot Springs, AR, I hear a great many tales of the gangsters.
They were not as many romanticize. They, and "their men" did all that mentioned in the original posting here. Most politicians and "law enforcement" were in the pocket of the gangsters.
If I missed something here, please advise.
        Sincerely,
        Tommy

Those were the days when certain people got things done. Everyone had the right to behave themselves. If they didn't some fellows would correct you.

Yes, feed their machine or you and your family would be non-personed.

non-personed wasn't a phrase that was used in those times. Yup, those were old time kind of times. There were rules set by the locals not lawyers.

I'd rather have Al Capone or Lucky Luciano than the corrupt Bidens any day! Heck, my grampa, being German, made beer during the Federal shut down of alcohol. His brother was a captain on the police force who helped him. Al Capone visited our little town often as a get away place to relax on the Mississippi River. All in my family history plus a lot more!

There never was anything good about mobsters or their money making criminal enterprises. From the gutter to the top level of govt., they were evil personified. All the novels, film noir, Hollywood movies and TV shows cannot ladle enough sugar on top of them and their filth to make it taste like anything other than the draining of a sewer. Glamorizing them, their crimes and corruption is about the same as trying to glamorize any other criminal enterprise whether it be dope, prostitution, fraud, whatever. JMHO. Sincerely. bruce.

I agree! law breaking, corruption, theft, and murder, was their trade! But they have been glamorized by the entertainment establishments!

I agree but the results were the same. Rules, were set by those with money, usually outsiders as noted in the first post, here.

                      What Bruce posted is spot-on.
