    A hard knot to answer.

What if the Russians announce to the world that a nuclear bomb 10X the size of Hiroshima bomb will destroy Kyiv on the Ides of March 2023.

What do you do? If you act first, WWIII.

If you respond or retaliate afterwards by erasing a similar city, WWIII.

What would be the correct thing to do?

    Answer?

IMHO, There ain?t one. If it were just Russia, we could beat them. Their old nukes are like their old tanks are rusted but still dangerous but not world ending. Add the PRC and this old globe will go back to the stone age.

Threaten Putin that 500 nukes are aimed at the Kremlin and other significant Russian sites whether true or not. With such an announcement from Russia WW3 would have ready arrived. The sooner they were stopped or blasted off the face of the earth the sooner it would end.

500? We have more than that.

It is the nature of nuclear war that once a single nuke is popped, you have to launch everything -- or have it vaporized in the silo. Mutual Assured Destruction has worked for nearly 70 years and it will work this time.

Well, OK, we'll do it that way. Tell Putin we have nearly 5,000 nukes aimed at them.

This would tell China that we are completely unarmed as far as nuke capacity (if launched).

We have more than one enemy. If war begins we will have to fight them all---they will all join in the band wagon seeing a golden opportunity.

If all is launched at once some would have to hit targets in China, Iran, Pakistan, Syria, NK and many other places. Then they bring out their hidden nukes and finish us off?

That's basically what I said -- MAD encompasses all nuclear nations. And a second strike would not be impossible for us -- we have some weapons that would remain in the silos and launch tubes -- for example in submarines.

ask Caeser , According to Greek historian Plutarch, a seer really did warn Caesar that he would be at the very least injured by the Ides of March. Caesar did not heed the warning. On the day of his death, he saw the oracle and joked that he had made it to the Ides of March, to which the seer responded the day had not yet ended.

But we don't have a seer, and it's still February.

As long as there are sane leaders there'd be no nukes.
Is Biden sane ? You'd better hope so.
This administration is the most incompetent in US history
and our fate is in their hands. Something to think about.

As Geordie Sullivan said, "Hope is not a strategy."

Biden clearly suffers from Dementia, most likely Alzheimer's (we can't say for sure because Alzheimer's can be definitively diagnosed by an autopsy.)

Am I concerned for the future of the United States? You better believe it!

I have personally seen at least 12 nuclear bombs being transferred from 1 aircraft carrier to another. The Russkies saw them too. A Russian Mail airplane with Egyptian markings flew over the carriers at 500 feet!
