You tell me, how are we ever going to end hunger if we keep feeding them

Cindy McCain appointed to UN world food program.

"The increasing number of conflicts, climate shocks and economic turmoil have led to a sharp rise in the number of acutely food-insecure people struggling to get enough food to feed their families up almost 200 million since before the coronavirus pandemic. (The World Food Program) provided more than 158 million people with food, cash and vouchers in 2022, more than in any previous year, and received a record $14 billion in funding."

Food-insecure and brain shortage. Send brains. Well, they are smart enough to eat the food that the UN gets the rest of US to send to them.

I remember as a young kid thinking this. Every Sunday morning back when we only got 3 channels the airwaves were full of shows for the needy.

I thought even as a young child "these adults are starving to death yet they have as many children as they possibly can". I commented that to be fed they should undergo some type of sterilization or at least free birth control otherwise the problem would only get far worse, which it has.

Now days they simply pack 300 or so into small fishing boats and head here or some other responsible nation to be taken care of.

The U.S. has plenty of money to hand out but you have to get in line.
We have millions of acres of room for rodents, I mean immigrants, from all over the planet.

Let Billy Joel go to THEIR country and take care of them.

Ah, but we do. The do gooders want to help them and the businessmen want to build that condo. When the neighborhood is taken over by Haitians even the poor whites move on. Someone has to provide a place for them be it Kansas or Nebraska.

This guy travels all over the country(you should see his wife) and explores all parts of the US. This vid is about all the abandoned farming areas from the thirties in TX. There's plenty of fixer-uppers towns to be had.

Lord Spoda- it's an odd handle.

Thing is though, no one wants old stuff. No developer is going to spend time refurbishing an oldtime 1930's town. They just build cheap boxes next to it. It's cost effective. Now me, I think I'd like to try living in an old, abandoned town. Last Picture Show and all.

Somebody has to pay for it too and we're doing it with taxes, especially property taxes.

All kinds of taxes. My tax on my half acre is 1500 a yr. That's not too bad compared to some other places. I pay almost that much on everything else including my little online business. If you make money on something, then look out.

"Food insecurity" ? In foreign countries it's due to corrupt governments which are kleptocracies engaging in endless gang wars. In this country it's thanks to welfare mothers who spend their children's food money on drink and drugs. And large food retailers who refuse to do business in certain areas due to high crime rates.

The problem has to be solved by the people who have the problem. We can help, but until they demand good government and start educating themselves, we're just pouring our money down a rathold.

In 1729, Johnathan Swift, the author of "Gulliver's Travels" wrote a rather famous essay on the problem of hunger and poverty. The essay, which is called "A Modest Proposal" can be found at https://extra.shu.ac.uk/emls/iemls/r...ar/modest.html

It takes about 5 minutes to read and I don't want to ruin it by telling you what it says. Do note that the essay is considered to be an example of irony and that when reading it, you have to realize the the author is actually sane.

The URL isn't working -- but I'm familiar with "A Modest Proposal." And like you, I won't spoil it for others.

Swift was a really outstanding writer. AMP is just one of his many pieces that really merits a thoughtful read. Sincerely. bruce.
