Who REALLY should get reparations? The American Indians, that's who! They were and still are being persecuted by the white man. Murdered by the thousands since white men showed up hundreds of years ago.

With the exodus of CA, NY, MI and IL I believe it's a bigger problem now. We should get reparations for not being allowed to secede from the union.

From 1865 to 1877 the South was destroyed with many cotton farms taken, businesses looted, yankee appointees ran the southern governments.

There were only two generals in the Civil War who had a sense of strategy -- Winfield Scott and Ulysees Grant. It was Grant who insured Confederate officers would not be prosecuted, and who allowed them to keep their swords and horses (everyone who had horse or mule -- not just officers -- was allowed to take it home with him.)

This was because Grant understood what he was fighting for -- to reunite the country. He knew you couldn't do that by being vindicative. And Lincoln understood and approved.

Unfortunately, when Lincoln was assassinated, Congress took over and imposed "Congressional reconstruction" which was vindicative and a serious mistake. The country still suffers for that mistake.

If you think the war was started when the South fired on Fort Sumter that?s like saying WW-II was started when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor! When it actually started on 09/01/1039.
