Yeah, yer dishwasher uses too much water! You will have to run 2 complete cycles to get dishes clean! Yeah, that saves water! Just like when toilets were restricked. Double flush! And shower heads, takes longer to get clean!

One of my old co-workers bought an established car wash. He decided to build a new additional wash on the other side of town. The town refused the permit unless he built one that recycled the water. Due to run-off and evaporation fresh water could be supplemented but only at 20%.
This is in rural Alabama and 20 years ago.
