Total Chaos in the Canadian Parliament

An amazing story of what has been going on in the Canadian Parliament over the last couple of days.

The President of Ukraine was in Ottawa and was invited to address Parliament. The Speaker of the House apparently thought that it would be appropriate to invite a guest from his electoral district to watch the address and introduced him to Parliamentarians, pointing out that he was 98 years old, was born in Ukraine and had fought the Russians in WWII. He described him as both a Canadian hero and a Ukrainian hero. Members of the House, gave him a routine round of applause. Absolutely nobody thought this through, particularly the Speaker and clearly nobody put together the fact that for him to have been fighting the Russians, he had to have been in the German Army. In fact he was a volunteer in an SS Division and was a Nazi.

Total embarrassment for everybody and for the country. The Russians are already using the incident in their propaganda. The Polish government is expressing an interest in extraditing the old guy and the Speaker has apologized to everybody multiple times

Earlier today, after being jumped upon by all Parties, including his own Liberal Party, the Speaker resigned. Just the latest in a large number of serious gaffs with international implications by members of the totally incompetent Liberal Government

Amusing to see Trudeau and his ilk be so embarassed. If they had done their homework, coached this individual, they could have passed him off as a member of the Vlasov army formed from Soviet POWs to fight against Stalin.
