Gimme Gimme Zelensky is fighting a war he can't win ...

while spending our taxpayer money like there's no tomorrow.
I've said from the beginning that he can't win. Nobody here
agreed with me of course, all cheering on Zelensky.
At the outset a peace deal was on the table, only to be kiboshed
by Biden's VP where she bragged about Ukraine joining NATO.
What Gimme hopes to achieve by continuing this pointless war
isn't clear as he has zero chance of conquering Russia. He'd be
better off tilting at Windmills and sparing his people. So who
when this is finally over is going to rebuild his Country, that is
if he's still President ? which I think is doubtful. Wanna guess ?
I'd guess they'll be a lot of "not ferking likely" come vote time
because despite Biden's belief, money does not grow on trees.

      Two thoughts.

      1. I have real questions about whether we actually want the Ukrainians to win this. We've slow walked aid on this from the start. As long as the air space over the Donbass is contested the stalemate will go on, and we've refused to give the Ukrainians the tools to be competitive there, no MiG 29s and no F-16s, and no long range fire and forget air to air missiles. The biggest problem the Ukrainian Air Force has, besides not enough planes, is Russian MiG 31s, Su 35 Su 57 with those R-37 hypersonic Mach 5 air to air missiles with their 200 mile range. The Rooskies crank of a few a day from aircraft loitering in Russian air space and while most don't hit the erratic evasive maneuvers Ukrainian aircraft have to take if one is launched and the need to hide in ground clutter (which makes them vulnerable to everything in the Russian air defense artillery arsenal) has basically made the Ukrainian air force impotent over the battle field.

      2. The Ukraine doesn't want to conquer Russia. They want the Russians out of the Ukraine. They also feel, probably correctly, that if they enter into armistice negotiations with the Russians still entrenced with any of their ill gotten gains Putin will simply use the time to prepare for the next round.

      3. The exact same criticisms were made in the 1930s when we were arming the Brits and fighting an undeclared naval war with Germany. Don't forget either that Pearl Harbor happened because of China. We would not support the brutal invasion of China by the Japanese which led to the cutting off of all strategic materials, especially petroleum products from this country to Japan. Remember also when the U.K. and France declared war on Germany the NAZIs were actually attacking in the opposite direction and I think few here would look on that as a bad decision.

I wonder how many people on our side would support this war now if Trump were president with a similar policy, though I do believe if Trunp were president the Ukrainians would have gotten the full boat of military aid from the jump.

One thing I think should happen though is the suspension of any cash aid to The Ukraine. If it isn't military hardware and support gear, they don't get it. No more cash payments for anything. The Ukes can pay their own civil servants.

This was a David versus Goliath to begin with, except
        David couldn't find his slingshot.
Question remains; who's going to rebuild Ukraine ?
And while we're at it; who's going to rebuild Gaza ?
I say screw 'em both. Let's rebuild Tennessee instead.
But hold on to your Wallets as Biden will no doubt help
        rebuild both, but not Tennessee.
