Wow! Global warming has hit China with the coldest records in modern history.

I brought up a similar event long ago and togor claimed that was SUPPOSED to happen during global warming even though global warming had just been invented.

He could never give an answer that made sense about anything. When pushed into a corner he would say anything to get in the last word too as you well remember.

I knew not to push him any further or he was start explaining the correct way to crack and shell walnuts.

Must be due to all those new coal fired electric plants they are building.
If John Kerry gets his way; we will be buying electricity from China!

This week's Economist magazine has a long article on the effect of global warming on the wine growing regions of Europe. The net effect is that wine is starting to be able to be produced much farther north than before and that South East England now has both the correct temperature and the correct type of soil for good grapes.

Even more bizarre is Ottawa, where I live. I think that I have previously mentioned that a strange point of pride about the city is that, along with the capital of Mongolia, Ottawa is the coldest national capital in the world - colder than Moscow. Having said that, there are two vineyards producing drinkable wine in the suburbs. One of them actually won an international award a few years ago. Nuts to the climate fanatics: bring on global warming.

Did I mention that no major city in Canada had a white Christmas this year? Current temperature here is 37F, much warmer than usual.

Our coldest temps happen in Feb but at Christmas it is usually 30-45 degrees here.

I remember Christmas of 1963. My brother and I got identical bicycles from Sears. We had a large circular driveway and rode them that day. I don't recall the actual temp that day but it was hot, perhaps in the 90's. It was so hot we couldn't ride very long and that is saying a lot when you're a kid and can endure temps so much better.

Back in the late 60's the banks all started using digital temp displays. I remember plenty to times seeing 102, 104 and such. The temps were verified by the local news channels.

Weather, hot and cold, dry and wet, occurs in cycles. Some long. Some short.

I remember Winters in S. Iowa being 20-25 below zero with 2 foot of snow and wind of 40mph all in one day!
