Here is a sample of a TV reporter story about a cop shooting tthem knife yielding outlaws?

(Quote)When police arrived, they saw the suspect had a knife and told them to drop it which they refused to do. The encounter ended with police shooting the suspect. The suspect was then taken to the hospital. Their condition is unknown.

Todays reporters are uneducated and cannot write or speak English.

Told them or told him? Which they refused to do, or he refused to do.
Their? The cops?
Their, there, they are. No wonder folks have a tough time learning English, but most of the world does. Wonder why?
