Police in towns of 500 or less population.

There are still hundreds of little towns with police, a prosecutor, and a judge. It is a huge amount of highway robbers. They are not only highway robbers managing speed traps, they are bullies that also over look (for a price) criminal behavior by dope heads and illegal gambling rackets.

    Here is just another example.

A 25 yr old Chief of Police?? YGBSM! Many if not all of these small town police departments should be disbanded because of corruption and abuses of power. Oftentimes small towns and cities would be better served by contracting with the county sheriff.

Times have changed. It used to be that growth was because of the long time residents or town natives multiplying. Now, growth is because a house becomes available for sale and everyone within a thousand mile radius is trying to buy it before someone else.

In small towns people use to know each other. There was basically no violence and police were seldom, if ever called upon.

That's the small town I grew up in. Our one and only police chief was friends with everyone, made his rounds everyday, got out and mingled with everyone, went home and slept at nights. At night there were no police at all and none needed.

My little town has now become a city. We have about 20-30 cops and a fire dept with paid employee's (no longer a volunteer dept). No one knows anyone. People move in and stay till their homes become foreclosed then someone else takes their place over and over x 100's.

This may not relate much to the original topic here but had to rant about "my little town" which has become a huge pile of chit due to all the out of state people moving in with their ideas and buying up farm land to turn into subdivisions making the matters even worse.
