One thing that occurs to me when there is a mass shooting or political shooting (or planned shooting in this case) is that the media always give the shooter a lot of space - photos, stories, his or her background, talking heads galore being interviewed on TV, more photos, interviews with witnesses, interviews with people who know the person, etc.

It seems to me that in many cases, the perpetrator wants the attention and notoriety and that is just what happens. I know that its naive and is probably against the principle of a free press, but really, maybe its time to ask / demand / legislate that the media stop giving these people their 15 minutes of fame and not reveal their identities for a period of time - say 5 years.

The news media is down playing it stating "but he never fired a shot".

I read where the registered democrat with the gun hid in the bushes for 12 hours waiting for the opportunity. Just like the 1st shooter, how does anyone carrying a rifle enter an area like this w/o being noticed?

In Trumps case if any of the surrounding area is secured at all it isn't a very large circumference.

Don't forget them trying to rid him of office while he was the president too impeaching him twice. Nancy Pelosi stated "we (the democrats) will impeach him every day if we have to". Then there was the 4+ years of news media and late night show host bashing him and playing politics, all of which should have been gagged or banned. Then the constant lies such as the "Russian collusion". There was never any accountability, lawsuits, or fact checking while all of this was going on either. Of course it continues now.

How to stop the assassination attempts? Easy. Post fake headlines (they're all fake anyway) stating:

"Polls show Trump's lead over Harris jumps by leaps and bounds due to latest assassination attempt. Voters are wondering why the democrats want Trump silenced so badly'.

The democrats will stop.
