Left wing supporters moving to Canada

Don't stop at Canada. There's plenty of room for you at the North Pole.

Unless you are a refugee that our idiot prime minister want to welcome to Canada (to ensure future votes for his party), it's actually rather difficult to immigrate here. The Immigration Department uses a point system to evaluate you and basically if you are over 40, you are unlikely to be accepted. Just as in the USA, immigration has become a massive political issue. This is mainly because they have been very welcoming to foreign students who pay about three times as much tuition at universities as locals. This has resulted in people gaming the system by setting up phony schools and then having the students attempt to become legal immigrants through a loophole. In addition, for the last few years the Liberals have opened the doors to a huge number of legal immigrants. The consequence of this has been a huge demand for housing and social services that can't be met. As any first year economics student knows, if demand exceeds supply, the price goes up. A typical house in Toronto or Vancouver (where most immigrants want to stay) is now well over $1,000,000.

We will never forget about Justin Bieber.

Canada (unfortunately) now receives some of our trash. Just like America, people always find ways to slip past authorities and enter countries where they are unwanted, not needed and not invited.

Since you now have Justin Bieber, how would you like to double your pleasure and take Justin Trudeau (our Prime Minister) as well? Two Justins for the price of one. In fact let me make this more emphatic: Please take him! Bieber at least entertains people. Trudeau's most recent idiocy was to order that tampon dispensers be placed in the men's toilets in federally regulated buildings (seriously).

          What a deal.

I guess we'll suffer together when Canada becomes the 51st state.

With all due respect to our American friends, please note that although we like and admire the USA, we have no interest in becoming part of your country. Apart from the political issues, we really can't afford to add 350 million people to our health insurance system. Having said that, now that there is a discussion on that subject, there are a few states that we might welcome as new provinces, one of which would have to be South East Florida. In the winter that area has so many Canadian tourists that it might as well be part of Canada (Did I mention that we hope to be there next week)

As a 51st state and becoming a part of the U.S. that would be going the other way. Taxes would go way down but the Canadians would lose their insurance programs and have to switch to obamacare, Medicare, and conventional ins companies that we have.

No worries---I'm sure the UK isn't going to give up Canada anymore than Denmark is willing to sell Greenland to us. I do wish Trump would can it. Neither is going to happen but I think it is funny that Trump refers to Trudeau as the governor of Canada, as in a governor to a state.

As it happens, Trudeau just announced today that he is resigning as leader of the Liberal Party but will temporarily stay on as Prime Minister until a new leader is chosen. Trudeau has the lowest rating of any Prime Minister in memory and if an election were called now, his Party would lose so many seats that he could hold a post-election caucus meeting in a rowboat. As much as I dislike him and loath his policies, I am disappointed /disgusted because he also asked the Governor General to prorogue Parliament until March. That was done to avoid a formal vote of confidence in Parliament. By convention, if he lost such a vote, he would have been obligated to ask the Governor General to dissolve Parliament and call an election. It is a virtual certainty that in an election, the Conservative Party will form a majority government so we really want an election.

Best of luck. The better off Canada is the better off the U.S. is and vice-versa.

Trudeau may have structured things to his and his parties benefit before stepping down. Like here, they are probably putting a game plan together. In other words "rigged".
