Where to get a No 4 Mk1 rebarreld?

Picked up a No 4 Mk 1 dated 1943 last year muzzle was good, cartridge does not fall to rim when dropped in the chamber. Problem is when I shot it at 50 yds ( to see where on paper it was) the shot were keyholes. Is it worth while to get a mould at say .314 and try it or see where to get it rebarreled?

Were you shooting lead bullets? Reason I ask is I have a Lithgow that's a great shooter with jacketed ball ammo but it pukes out tumblers when using cast.

If you have a worn barrel then those will exacerbate the situation because :

        1) The bullet is too 'short' to stabilise properly - try a 174gr.
        2) I'm fairly sure tha these are boat-tail bullets which will make matters worse.

Put the two together and you have a short bullet - which is further shortened by the boat-tail.

Get hold of some milsurp 303 or some non boat-tailed 174 / 180 gr commercial stuff.

To answer your original question. Try www.bdlltd.com. He carries the new barrels, and seems to be a man of his word. Regards, Clark
