Weaver 3-14x 44mm "Tactical" Telescopic Sight

I have the chance to buy one of these at a good price (under $220.00) from a couple of sources. The 'scope has an iluminated reticle, 1/4 moa capless adjustment knobs. Eye relief is 3 1/2". I understand these were made with 5.56mm rifles in mind. We're thinking about getting it as a christmas gift for our son for his PSL 54 rifle in 7.62x54r. If we do get it it will be installed in a K-Var mount for the rail side mount on the PSL 54
