I located a 12 power Unertel scope for cheap....A Crusty Marine at a local gun show told me all I have to do is replace the eyepiece...with a 8X....Do I believe this Crusty Marine?....And would it be possible to find a 8X eyepiece....Thank you in advance for your comments....regards

my understanding is yes you can do it, finding the eyepiece will be hard to do.

No, it must be changed internally. I have several Unertls and switching eye pieces does nothing to change power.
