M1C Question

Does anyone know the correct placement of a rifle serial number on the G&H receiver bracket? I have an M1C with a serial number on the bottom of the bracket. I have also seem them stamped on the side close to screws in bigger letters. Which one is correct or are they both correct? Thanks

I have both ser no 337xxxx has it on the side and ser no 349xxxx has it on the bottom.

WW 2 ser no was stamped on side Korea on bottom of bracket. That's how it's on my springfield and IH.
