Receiver Markings on Genuine Mosin Nagant Snipers

I was trying to find a thread where I saw information about genuine and faux Mosin Nagant sniper receiver markings. Not opposed to shooting a faux sniper, but if I can find an original.....

Check out Mosin-Nagant.net under the sniper section or go to Gunboards.com.

Email me: I will put you right.

Your issue is do you collect and that is what rocks your boat or are
you going to shoot the snot out of the PU sniper.

The MosinNagant.net sniper section is very out-dated and pretty much useless (in some cases downright "misleading" and dangerous) as far as determining what is fake vs. real regarding Mosin snipers. You can still get some good information on the Gunboards Sniper Rifle and Collectors forums from some of the older and more experienced members there.

The Russian-Mosin-Nagant-forum.com website is also a good place to go.

There is really a lot more to determining if a Mosin sniper is real or not than the barrel markings. There are lots of originals out there, and lots of fakes. Good photos help a lot.

The best deal on real Mosin PU snipers right now are the ones that were sold through MOLOT. There are some questions as to when and where some of them were last refurbished - whether by Soviet arsenals and armorers or by Molot for commercial sale - but they are real.
