    Mann-Neidner Scope Blocks

Notice anything wrong with the seller's stated application? Check out the front block. Compare it to the real WWI Mann-Neidner scope block used on a 1903.

Someone is throwing $271 out the window.

The ebay front block appears taller.

So 350683 is a 1903 serial number I should be looking for?

Someone is throwing out $400+, as of now.

Nevertheless, the perspective on your picture of the scope blocks doesn't clearly show how high the front scope block is. But thanks for the great picture, didn't knew they were serialized to rifles (and even that close to W&S scoped rifles!)

You obviously missed a very important detail.

            Just a WAG .
            Hole spacing appears to differ.
            E-bay listing has a "17" stamp where your's has the serial #.

Were the mounting screws staked on the shorter height (rear?) block you posted a picture of Jim?

Jim is the s/n too low for a Mann Niedner installation? (Just a WAG!)

Yes. Neidner did hundreds of commercial scope installations, including this one. The rifle is a RIA, which eliminates it as a WWI USMC sniper rifle. Oddly enough, it was a commercial installation that led Neidner to be the first to mount scopes on the famed sniper rifles. Neidner couldn't do them fast enough, so Winchester finished the job.

If you look at the large number of 1903's Winchester had in inventory after the war, it was obvious they intended to build many more.
