First Time out for 03A4gery

I was finally able to take my o3A4gery to the range. With the Lyman Alaskan with post reticle I had no idea where it would print. Set up at 25 yds and marched the rounds up and across until I cut the 1.5" bull out. Moved target to 100 yds and all but one round of five shot string flew over the target. Brought the impact point down until the last five rounds got a 2.5x3" group. I was too sore to continue and westering sun was making sun devils. I need a target with a solid black 4-6" bull that I can actually see well. Still, not bad. Rifle has a very nice trigger pull.

did not say what loads using, GI?? good starting point, i set mine up at 300 yards and put a silver ink spot on elevation. i then zero wind indicated also with silver. i find my lyman alaskan is good on windage at 100 yards it will move strike 1" at one hundred with one click
try some 168 grain hpbt with say 48 grains of IMR 4064 to start with, this load will take you to 300, but then load development for YOUR guns is fun
here is what my 1941 is printing at 100 yards

that group is experimental 175 grain, and there are a lot to chose from, berger, hornady a max, sierra just for starters

The ammo is surplus M2 ball. Not sure of source. Need to research headstamp. Once I get comfortable with the rifle, I want to take it out to 2-300 yds and see what it can do. I may want to reload for this rifle, but wonder if I will actually get around to it.

Bad sun is murder to shoot with. I hate a right angle sun and shooting into the sun isn't fun either. Yes, I'd go with a nice 4" black bull too. Never the less, it does look like it was a good fun day of shooting. Kind of makes you anxious to try it again.
Oh, and bench rest shooting just kicks me to death. I was going to give it up and just go with poodle shooters until I got a Lead Sled. I know it's not the same but I love the thing and I shoot dozens of rds. with my Mausers.

I have only recently entered the realm of optics. But I like vintage guns, and so the 03A4gery. A Lead Sled sounds nice.
