    Matching Numbers M1C

How hard is it to find a matching (rifle/base/mount) M1C? Does anyone have a list of known examples? (A few years ago I heard---just a hand full of matching rifles. With all the M1C rifles sold by the CMP there should be a few hand fulls now?)

I don't know but at a auction a M1C with no scope or mounts went for over $3,000.00. I didn't bid because I didn't think it was worth even half of that.

Last I knew there were 3 complete matching examples.

I heard that there were 4 or 5 (or was it 3 or 4?) matching rifles from the DCM 1993-94 auction of 99 M1C rifles. With the build sheets available, individuals with matching mounts bid up the matching rifle so they could reunite them. (What I do not know, is how many of the 3-5 had matching bases---for complete matching rifles.)
Back then, there were about 300-350? documented M1C rifles. With approximately 4100-4300? documented M1C rifles now, there should be a few more? I hope the specialists in the GCA would add some generic information on this topic? What is the approximate number of M1C rifles (and, while I am asking, how many M1Ds are there)? And, how many (approximately) M1C rifles are complete matching?
