The caps in the auction are for a Weaver and won't fit the larger Alaskan. Most "Alaskan type" scopes were issued as M81's or M82's with the sunshade and rubber eyecup. Can't say I have ever seen a set of caps for those lash ups. you should be able to find some commercial caps though the Alaskan was very popular for a long tiime.

        Regards,

        Jim

There were leather covers made for the Lyman Alaskan but no USGI they were commercial for the commercial Lyman Alaskans. The Military did not Issue covers for the Alaskan type scopes used on the M1C just a rubber eye protector / sunshade and sliding front sunshade. The covers on ebay looked correct for the M73B1 and did not go cheap $300+

Guess he really wanted them Mike. Not quite sure how you would authenticate them though?

                Regards,

Jim - No way I know of to authenicate them as original without holding them in my hands and then that would just be an opinion. Just astonished at at the winning bid.
