Marine 1903 sniper with Marine 8X Unertl

This is the 1903 I picked up a couple months back that had a Winchester A5 on it. I think pretty much everyone in the know I showed it to, including Larry Reynolds (Big Larry) said they really had no doubt it was a Real Sniper, but it was missing it's Unertl scope. So they all told me to find one. Well I did, it cost me my allowance for the next 20 years, but it sure made the package.

I don't know if I ever will. But I am tempted to try shooting it once though.

It would be a travesty if you didn't shoot it.

One of these days I will take it out and shoot it. I bet it is really accurate. This is one rifle I wish I could let some of you guys hold and look at. It seems every part of the rifle has been worked over. The trigger I bet is 3lbs or less and breaks really crisp. And then the trigger housing, receiver, and stock are all all modified and milled so they don't touch each other when it's assembled. And the action is just so smooth as you cycle it. They really did a lot of polishing and fitting of the receiver and bolt. It even seems a lot smoother than some of the 1903 NM's I've had in the past. It's just a really neat piece to study because before I picked this up, I wouldn't have imagined they were this good at building snipers back then. Heck I have a custom Remington 700 sniper that I paid a fortune for, that is supposed to be state of the art, and this one feels like 3x the rifle that one is. It's just a really neat piece.

I love how the adjustment knobs on the rear mount took on a greenish tint from the anodizing changing.
