lost or stolen from US Mail 1917 Eddystone 49267

I have had a US Model of 1917 Eddystone serial # 49267 lost or stolen from the US Mail. Last scanned in Capitol Heights MD zip 20799 by the post office on 07,26,2018. The postal service cannot find it as of today 10,13,2018. The package was in a box 50 1/4 x 5 1/4 x 9 3/4 inches, seem a little big to loose. I had it packaged well and address well with a copy of my address and the recipients inside of the package. The only thing I didn't have was insurance on it, my bad. Education is expensive and I got educated on this one.

I stopped using USPS to ship anything valuable. Their insurance is a scam and they break stuff packaged well then claim improper packaging or tell you that you can’t prove value. Anything valuable I’ve used Fed Ex with no issues. USPS lost a 1903 refused to pay. It showed up 6weeks later no explanation. It’s an organization that really disappoints. Sorry to hear your rifle is missing or stolen. Maybe it will turn up in 6 weeks. Good luck.

UPS isn't much better. I had a near perfect Stevens 520 trenchgun reduced to a parts gun thanks to their handling prowess. It was insured for the full amount. But their internal investigation concluded no fault on their part.

in this area, at least for me, USPS is great,
UPS, mediocre at best, and FedEx hit or miss,

FWIW, I ship a lot of firearms, almost all USPS, and only Priority or Registered mail, insured, delivery confirmation, signature required,

have not lost a firearm yet, (knocks on wood)

Several years ago I had the misfortune of having to file a claim with UPS. After several months of getting the run-around, I had a UPS representative tell me "UPS is not in the business of paying claims."
