I picked up a 11mm French 1874 Gras rifle and some used cases made from .348 Win cases with a rim dia of .605. I only want to shoot it a few times so I don't want to buy the very expensive dies. I'm away from my reloading stuff and can't check but I think I can use various dies I already have to size the cases but not sure if I have a shell holder that would fit the .348 rims. The only holder I have is for the 8mm Lebel. Does anyone know if that shell holder would work for the .348 size rims? If not I'll need to order one, Ray

Thanks dogtag, I see the rim sizes of the 8mm Lebel run anywhere from .627-634. So the Lebel shell holder would probably be a loose fit for the.348 rims. I'll give it a try when I get to my reloading stuff and if it wouldn't work, I'll order a .348 holder, Ray
P.S. I just ordered a .348 shell holder from Lee. RayLast edited by rayg; 02-21-2013, 07:29.Comment

My Lebel cases {REM/UMC] measure 618.
An original French Lebel case [Berdan] measures 629.
Lebel cases made from Win 348 will not extract.
If you have Remington brass and you shoot a Lebel rifle
as opposed to the later Berthier, then make sure you use
round or flat point bullets.
With the tubular magazine of the Lebel model a spitzer
bullet could set off the round ahead of it under recoil.Comment
