loads for a small ring mauser?

I have an unmarked one in 7mm.
The bolt face is flat and it cocks on closing.
Has a m98 style floor plate not an internal magazine.
I am wondering if there is a source for suitable loading data?
Does anyone have some data they would share?

Sounds like a Mauser '93. Almost all reputably-published data for 7x57 (AKA 7mm Mauser) holds maximum pressure below the 46000 c.u.p. of the SAAMI specs for this cartridge and should be safe in a '93 Mauser in sound condition. Plenty is available online from Hodgdon, Alliant, etc. Never trust data provided on internet forums - too many of us are careless, crazy, and/or just plain evil!


"Square" M1893 Mauser bolt face is distinctive to this model and close derivatives like M1916.

I load mine from data in the Lyman book. I do load on the light side and haven't had a KABOOM.

Any 7mm Mauser data will do. The size of the rifle doesn't matter.

Early 7mm Mauser rifles and No. 5 Remington Rolling-block rifles in 7mm may have different chamber dimensions, than later manufacturer standards. With earlier arms, it is good practice to use lower pressure 'starting' loads and back off F.L. Re-sizing Dies, a turn or two, and 'neck-size' the (fire formed) brass to avoid over-working the cartridge cases. Annealing case necks is also good practice. The 7mm Mauser cartridge is a great one!
