    Cadet Sized Bayonet Needed

I was able to pick up a very clean Model 1884 Cadet rifle (ser. # 566269) at the last Big Reno show and am now searching for the appropriate cadet bayonet/scabbard as well as a cadet sling. I understand that these are pretty difficult to find so any assistance in locating same would be greatly appreciated.

Side note: It appears that this rifle was from the last batch of cadets assembled in 1893 although the stock cartouche reads "1890"?????

Just keep your eyes open, Rick.

Cadet bayonet scabbards are not common at all, though the blades can be had rather easily.

AFAIK, there is no such animal as a cadet-specific sling. Only the very late cadets with the one-piece guard were equipped to receive a sling (which they would have just tightened a bit) as original equipment.

Stock is almost certainly not original to the gun.

    Enjoy!

Is the cadet bayonet 18 or 18 1/4 inches?

16.25" actually; 18" is the full-sized one. The cadet blade is also notably narrower.

I used to own a cadet bayonet that was bright and not blued.
