My friend has what we believe is an original 98 carbine that was upgraded with a 99 stock and 1901 carbine sight.The gun was sporterized by carving and reshaping the stock. Finding an original 98 carbine stock and rear sight is probably "A bridge too far" so he is thinking of just replacing the Butt ugly stock on it with a decent original 99 one. Any comments or leads?
