    Spanish Guard Trapdoor???

My father stopped today and was told about a supposed Spanish Guard Trapdoor that the guy wants $600.00 for. I told him I wasn't sure if there was such a thing and maybe the guy meant Spanish American war. The guy who is selling it has been a friend for sometime now but out of state. He has good deals every now and then for dad and I but many times has the details way off. Any help would be great and Dad is going to call him to get more details. Rick B

Up here in Maine decent trapdoors start at around 600. check Al Frasca's site for pricing. His trapdoors move so the prices are realistic.

It might be some sort of other trapdoor system rifle, such as a Snider or Tabatiere. A number of countries used "trapdoor" type breeches to convert old muzzle loaders to early cartridge loading. In the case of the two I mentioned, the trapdoor goes from one side to the the other instead of being hinged at the front like the Springfield.
