1873 Receiver

I purchased this rusty receiver from eBay. I wasn't sure what I would get, but I like mysteries and for $12 total I wasn't worried. As I began to clean the rust away, I noticed no serial number and then I see the "C" marking which if I'm reading correctly, means a condemned part.

Interesting to see one in person. The ejector hole is not finished and the pin hole for the hinge pin is too small.

Neat little "keeper", perhaps a paperweight? If numbered, it would have been below 96300.

CCC Marked Barrel

I saw this one today was was wondering if these are condemned marks too. Three letter "c" on the barrel.

I would CERTAINLY think so. Multiple hits are not uncommon, and it very obviously meant to be seen by anyone checking the proof.
