Now that would be a nice box to find under the Christmas tree!

      Wouldn't fit down the chimney!

There is a LOT of "interesting" stuff in that auction, and their presentation makes me wonder just how sharp they are. Who offers a M1905 bayonet along with a 1903RB #91?

I was thinking the exact same thing. Lot's of interesting items and accessories but based upon their description and lack of detailed pictures you would have to be a real gambler to bid on line.

Just going on the flavor of the "almost but not quite right" assortment presented, I'd surely want to do a hands on inspection. Take that apparent 1903RB - estimate is less than 1/10 of what they go for - what is wrong with it? That s/n WAS a rod-bayonet to begin with, so what is the story - baaad restoration, what?? They say the early TD carbine has the wrong stock, but comb profile is almost right - that means it was INTENTIONALLY faked. What else isn't right? One of the .22 Krags is hinky, etc., etc., und so weiter.

One of the .22 Krags is just plain odd. Why the two cuts? Serial isn't anywhere near the GPs. The other GP is listed as "observed" by Pearce so it's a known quantity.

Both a Singer and a North American Arms M-1911. Those aren't the serious money guns there though - the "pre-Henry" rifles are not my field but I suspect they're very "interesting."

Just looking at the field gear, some of which is quite rare and not reproduced, that was a pretty serious collection of stuff. Some of that field gear is astonishingly rare.

Bad pictures throughout but some of it is serious stuff indeed. A typical collection - the good, the bad, and the ugly. If my gunk went up tomorrow some would make people laugh, some would make them scratch their heads, and some would make people drool. I suspect that's normal.

            und so weiter.

King Barack the Magnificent will only require that you genuflect in His presence. The guy is too intellectually lazy to learn German.

The two cuts resemble those on a Krag rifle I have that was used on one of the target machines pictured in Brophy's book.

Well I thought about getting into the fight for the case of Trapdoors. Watched the auction and was about to bid and it went from 8500 to 12,000 in a split second and than it jumped to 29,000. Well to say the least I was left in the dust. But it was fun for that split second.
