Anyone actually try the new Privi Partisan 45-70 Gov't ammo with their Trapdoor? Too much or ok?

Is there any wording on the box as to application, pro OR con? At one time that was a requirement, but there are so many 'niche' manufacturers now, some of which are offshore, that it may not be as well-regulated as it used to be.

It just says that it is a 405 grain bullet and that it is 45-70 Gov't.

Their product ballistics page says the mv is 405 meters/second with the 405 grain bullet.

That's around normal velocity for a TD load, but doesn't say anything about pressure, though it is PROBABLY OK.

For what it's worth (not very much), I've used the Privi Partizan brand in a couple of calibers. Generally, the recoil seems light, the accuracy is not very good, or at least not very consistent and certainly inexpensive. It burns clean seems nicely made and is generally okay for simple, fun use. The boxes are not very durable so probably won't last well for long term storage.

Understand - just cannot find ANY ammo that says it's trapdoor safe and brass is hard to find too - even if I end up pulling these and measuring out a charge of a known formula, it still seemed like a decent acquisition (have to start somewhere).

Anything with BP would be OK. Any "cowboy action shooting" ammo would be OK. Black Hills should be OK. Commercial Winchester and Remington SHOULD be OK, unless box is marked otherwise. Obviously, anything marked "High Velocity" or "Winchester 1886/Marlin 1895" (as the boxes USED to be) should be avoided. It's not as easy to tell as it was, that's for sure. If you are concerned, buy the cheap brass and reload. Light .45-70 loads in a straight case don't "work" the brass much, and, if you only load for one rifle you can just size the neck - cases should last almost indefinitely.
