    Need Help Identifying Barrel Band

I got this Trapdoor barrel band on a Bannerman-style cadet rife. I have seen something like this but I can't remember where. The hook is brazed on and has been there a long time. The rifle was a 25" barrel muzzle loader with an 1864 dated .58 barrel on a thinned Trapdoor stock and an "1884" reclaimed trapdoor lock. I can't figure out if this band was used on a US Military Rifle or if it was made for the cadet. Any help would be appreciated. Band with Hook.jpg

That is a book I don't have. Can you help me with a brief explanation? Thanks for the response!

One of the Rice-Merrill designs for a stacking swivel ca. 1873. Idea went nowhere and this ended up in the scrap box and then on to a Bannerman style parts gun because it fit.

Thank you very much. I didn't know if it was US or just a Bannerman creation.
