SRS check please and help identifying stock numbers

Hello I'm a newbie to both the forum and trapdoor rifles. I was recently gifted a trapdoor

SN 127519 it has a large 71 on the stock I believe its NY 17th Vol. cause the rifle spent its life in upstate NY also has a smaller 16 under the 71

    I hope the attachment worked??

Probably 71st Regiment - rack #16. No way to tell.

Sorry, nothing on that number - data empty between 127303 and 127862.

Sounds like a good bet to me. If you want to read a good book about the 71st NY, check out "The Little War of Private Post." He has a lot to say about the trapdoor as an infantry weapon.

Post mentions the rod bayonet on his 45-70. The 71st was a New York City regiment, though where that rifle traveled after it was mustered out....
