    SRS Search

I'm new to all this and have a nice, all original Model 1873 rifle with what I believe is a 5th Cavalry I.D. stamped on the wrist. Would appreciate any assistance searching for serial no. 30997.

    Thanks........

There are some close rifle numbers linked to the 5th Infantry. I have only the 1st Edition SRS book so there might be additional documentation. .

Supposedly, the 5th Cavalry obtained 50 rifles with 5 issued to each company for sharpshooter use. These are supposed to marked with the 5th Cav. and Company mark along with the rack number. I'm not aware that the infantry marked their rifles.
