Greetings all. I can't believe I haven't run across this site before now. Looks like a nice one. Glad to be here. Lance

Hi, there's not as much gun experience here as there use to be but if you have any questions someone will more than likely reply. Due to the current crappy political atmosphere a good bit of talk goes on here as well in that regard. If you read much here you'll soon see who to follow and who not to follow as in any forum.
Welcome aboard. -
Thanks for the welcome Allen. I've been a Gunboards member for over twenty years and have sadly seen the knowledge base decline there as well over the years. Poking around here I do see some familiar names. Political discussion doesn't bother me at all but I'd rather just talk about guns.Comment

Good to know. Many of us old timers don't seem to shoot as much as before and the younger crowd doesn't seem to have as much interest in them. It may be partly because they don't have a place to shoot like we did.
It sounds like you've come to the right place, just bare with us.Comment

I hear you. Even though I live on a farm I don't shoot nearly as much as I used to. I tried to post about a trapdoor carbine this morning but it said I needed moderator approval. The moderator listed (JeffL) looks like he hasn't been active since 2020? My post still hasn't shown up. PM'd Lyman so hopefully he can help me out. Not a good start so far but I'm hanging in there.Comment

Nice to meet you Red. I'm SW of OKC about 35 miles so quite a ways from the border. I like Arkansas though. I used to have relatives (now all deceased) in Mena which if memory serves is close to the OK border.

My trapdoor carbine post finally appeared. Must have been some sort of glitch. All is well. I'm up and running now.Comment

My GG Parents were OK pioneers; as Sooners they lost their home on the land rush but did settle in the Yukon area with the No. Canadian River as the north border pf their land. My G'ma was born in a covered wagon in 1886 on Ok Indian Terr. near Apache Ok.Comment

Welcome aboard LP. I believe you will find the most knowledgeable people here concerning specific firearms as you see the listing of forums. We have the fortune to have some experts lurking here and they pop up when the discussion gets really serious. You will find the Political forum the most active in the discussions and the viewpoint being argumentative. That viewpoint centers often on personality traits often brought to print by another persons viewpoint that is the opposite. There is also occasional "name calling" which I believe to be an affectionate nick name they give one another. So be prepared in your endeavors here. Good Luck. Above all, have fun.
By the way, I had a TDY assignment for a Tech School at a place called Altus OK. that was in the early 60's. Never could drink the water there. Drank a Pepsi most of the time. Stopped in town in one of the Mom and Pop stores was looking for a bargain in any firearms they might have had. Mentioned it to the Older Lady that was running the store that day. Asked if that was always like that or something recent. Her answer, it has been like that a long time. She then said, the best way she could describe its taste was it tasted like a wet dog smells. by golly she described it perfectly.Last edited by JohnMOhio; 07-24-2022, 07:22.Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

LP I believe you are lucky in that respect. Also in driving through you car did not need any water for the radiator.. Don't think I would have put it in my car. Might eat through the hoses or the radiator. Just wonder if there has been any change to the water supply.Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.
