not sure how much difference is in Canadian vs US specs,
but the 64 GTO was smaller than the 66/67, as was the tempest and lemans

I wonder if Canada had the option to purchase the models with the larger engines?

You don't hear about mussel cars in Canada and I would assume the extra snow would make them impractical. Might have different laws for speeders too?

I get the GTO crossed over in my mind with the Gen 1 Parisenne, which may have been a country specific model.

Snow nothing. Market here was booming for extra cubes. The ad campaign for the SS-396 version of the Camaro sold a lot of cars. Olds BLUE big block was very popular here with both the versions of the Delta cars in high demand, as well as the 442 convertible. I think Ford and Chrysler were a bit less aware in this matter though~ the 351-C was a rarity around here. We used to snicker at "The Boss 302" mustangs. There was the odd big block New Yorker/Imperial around here, but not a lot. Chryco went mostly with the 318, but there were a few 363 Bee's around.

As for speed rules, western Canada never got into the double nickels thing, but Ontario did. From the Ontario/Manitoba border to Alberta/B.C. border on the Trans-Canada, the speed limit stayed 70, until metrification, when it dropped to 100 KPH/62 mph. The Day 60/Night 50 thing on provincial trunk highways seemed to get dropped after metric came in.

I suppose if Canada uses salt for ice on the roads like America that wiped out a lot of cars.

we had a Parisenne, but IIRCars it was in the 80's or late 70's,

Mom had a 68 Tempest, which was a LeMans, and could be optioned out to be a GTO (all used the same body, )

and again, IIRCats, all the Pontiac Tempests/LeMans/GTO's were on the same body

There's a '65 hard-top Parisienne. They had a bit of a cult following here for the mid '60's cars.
They were full-sized, edging into Caddy territory with their massive builds. That front end still resonates to my eye.

It depends on where you are. We don't get the accumulations that B.C. and down east get, so salt use is somewhat lesser here. There's enough used to still seriously damage cars.
No one is immune to rust here, and car washing is the best tool to fight against body rust. G.M., Mazda and Toyota seem to be the worst hit, but I've heard stories of rusted factory new metal being used to build those vehicles. Our 11 year old Ford shows little signs of rust, but it was well taken care of by it's previous semi-rural owner.

                        Yes, it's a '72, but nope, it ain't a Pinto.
It's a Mercury Bob-cat, which was out-numbered locally by the Pinto by about five to one.
This one's still running, even on the trailer. Probably running up a flattened battery.
Wish the owner luck on this. Safety certificate looks like it's gonna be a major effort.
