Saturday coffee and shooting the breeze thread - Feb 14

Valentines Day! I'm ahead of the curve and got cards already. Wifey got flowering plants for the kids and grandkids so we're GTG that way. For amusement, I've been working on the ROKR Thompson rubber band gun. Some sections are more amusing than others. Got the receiver finished yesterday - I'll get after the barrel and magazine today maybe.

Been writing some, too. A friend was telling me he has a great idea for a novel but can't work up the nerve to write it. So I've composed a few short stories here to give him ideas on getting started. In my experience, once you dive in, the story pretty much writes itself. Knowing everybody might not care for what I write, I delete everything a few hours afterward.

Still nice here = 40F + when I took Flop Ears out @ 0430. Much warmer than usual for this time of year. I noticed it's colder east of here - your turn, easterners! SW

Ah Valentine's Day! Took my beloved out to lunch. Then, intentionally blundered into a local jewelry shop where, wonder of wonders, she just happened to find a pair of earrings that I thought she'd like. We got home and there was a whopper big box of Valentine's Day chocolate truffles arrived. Now, about to head out to the range for some quality time w/ my much appreciated .22 LR Colt Match Target. The rest of the day, we spend with our grandson!!! Life is good! Sincerely. bruce.

Mowed grass today. Will start spraying weeds next week after (if) the rains pass.

took the day off , kinda

did a run to the farmers market for eggs (not that much more expensive than store bought, but taste a lot better)
too cold to get much else , as in not anything veg available other than squash and root veg, and not sure they are not bought from a supply house, ,

did get a tasty english muffin breakfast sammy from a food truck

headed to local bakery for some GF stuff for the wife,
then off to Mom's to discuss her parkinsons meds and issues, and start her car, (battery almost dead)
        got her BBQ for lunch,
and while she and the missus were out, I worked for a few hours,

nice foodie joint meal with the missus, and now surfing before bedtime,

        overall a good day

Got up early- Mrs. S. actually woke me to go and pick up prescription stuff from the pharmacy. She's finally home from the hospital, and I don't mind in the least- even if I am hard to awaken at times.
After that went and got myself a donut shop coffee, and a Valentines card and choco's for her.
Haven't done anything gun, photography or bike related in quite some time now. Glad things are getting back to normal around here, though.
Last week, I did air up the car tires with the Park FP-4 floor bicycle pump. It's been a long winter here, but finally broke 30F. It's supposed to stay mild for a week too.
Probably hit the gravel pit mid March or so for a check sight-in/plinking session. It all depends on the melt. Really looking forward to that.
Did make a huge pot o' home made chicken soup with legs and breasts. It's gonna take a while to finish since the pot got away from me. Got a mind of it's own when it comes to ingredient amounts.

I think it got up to around 80 yesterday. The next 3 nights we have a light freeze predicted. It's a wonder we don't have tornado's every day due to all the temp changes.

Might as well continue this one to Feb 21 since I was away from home 3 days. Had surgery, but the desired result was achieved, and I'm feeling WAY better now! Root cause? Getting old. But I'm home now and all is well so right shoulder arms and continue to march! SW

^ Nobody. Wifey doesn't get up that early. No hike for the next few days, either. Gots to do a little more healing. SW
